Pulling back the curtain on my workcation

Published 2 months ago • 2 min read

I’m really excited about this, Reader!

Have you ever taken a workcation?

If not, let me tell you about them — they’re revolutionary, my friend!!

But first, let me back up to how I got here…

The other week I was talking to my therapist about being overwhelmed and having too many mental tabs open. I made a flippant comment about how if I could just have 48 hours to myself, I could get so much done and close out a stupid amount of mental tabs… know the feeling?

You’re basically Charlie. ⬇️

Within 20 minutes of my session, I had done a quick Airbnb search, found a place for the weekend, and then told my husband my plan.

All he said was, “Let me know when you leave and come back,” lol, gotta love that level of support and understanding.🤣

So, I booked the little cottage house about an hour away from home, and set out for my workcation on Friday night.

During those two days, I was able to accomplish so much:

  • Captured B-roll for upcoming reels.
  • Recorded and prepared four reels, complete with captions!!
  • Updated my OBM Readiness Guide, which is now live!
  • Made significant progress on my first template for my upcoming template shop. PS. Want to know when it goes live? Click here to be the first to know
  • Provided feedback to my copywriter on a project for next month.
  • Revamped my welcome sequence emails.
  • Scheduled the next four emails for my weekly newsletters.

In addition to all the work I got done, I also gave myself permission to indulge in some much-needed relaxation. I slept in (well, until 7 am, which felt like a luxury compared to my usual 5:30 am wake-up call), and most importantly, I reclaimed the mental space I needed to recharge and refocus.

It was glorious.

This impromptu workcation served as a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing self-care and creating intentional space for productivity.

By allowing myself the opportunity to step away from the daily grind and immerse myself in a dedicated work environment, I not only accomplished enough to greatly lighten my mental load, but also set the stage for greater balance and effectiveness in all aspects of my life—as a mother, a wife, and a business owner.

So…. are you getting on Airbnb right now? 😉

Liz

Hey heyyy Reader, Recently I did an Implementensive® with a client who mentioned that they do custom projects for almost every client. AKA, each client gets something slightly different from them. It brought me back to thinking about how a lot of creative service providers like to offer custom packages, rather than have a hard and fast scope of work that everyone goes through. Keeping it loose and offering custom packages definitely gives you more wiggle room in what you offer, because you're...

Happy Sunday, Reader! I’m coming in hot with some planning for you to do today. Admittedly, I love a good Sunday planning session. So, my question for you today is — have you planned out your schedule for the year yet? I don’t mean every detail, but the big things that are going to actually take you away from work. I’m talking about weddings, vacations, summer break for your kids, anything like that. Planning it now is how you’ll be able to set yourself up for the *right* amount of projects...

Alrighty, Reader, I know I might be a bit biased here as an OBM, but certain automations should always be a non-negotiable in a business. If you're like me and are always curious about what everyone else's behind the scenes setups look like, I've got 3 to tell you about. 1️⃣ Lead management The moment someone hits that magical "Submit" button on your contact form, you've got to acknowledge their inquiry. It's a small step that can make a big impact. If you're like me and most of my clients,...
